Gobichettipalayam (often simply called Gobi) is a small town in Erode District of Tamil Nadu state, India. Major part of present Gobichettipalayam was previously known as Verapandi Gramam, and more quondam documents and records still use that name. Gobichettipalayam boasts some famous tourist spots like Kodivery dam and Gunderi Pallam Dam near the periphery of forests. This place is also famous for religious attractions like Pariyur Kondathu Kaliamman Temple, Pachaimalai Balamurugan Hill Temple and Pavalamalai Muthu Kumaraswamy Hill Temple.
